1. Halogen: Cheap to Buy, Expensive to Run

Halogen is the old friend who never leaves. It is bright, warm and familiar — and it runs at 200–300 °C, turns half its power into heat, and dies in roughly 2,000 hours. On a machine that runs 5,000 hours a year, that's two or three replacements a year, plus the energy bill.

  • Power: 100–200W for a usable beam.
  • Life: ~2,000 hours. Measured in months, not years.
  • Heat: enough to warm your hands — and your part.

2. Fluorescent: Even Light, Fragile Life
